Downsize Me. Geek Edition

So, after about a year of lugging my Mammoth sized Corsair 800D full tower PC around to friends houses for Battlefield LANs i decided that it was enough. 2 of my friends both use the CM Storm Scout midtower case, and i liked them as soon as i saw them. They are funsized with a strong handle of the top to carry it. Ideal.

I sold my Corsair case for more than twice what the Storm Scout is worth brand new, bought the new, smaller case and got to work.ImageImage

I thought the huge reduction in size was going to be a problem to make it all fit tidily, especially running a CPU water cooling setup, 1000w power supply and monster video card. But to my surprise everything fitted reasonably well. The video card only took 23 swear words and 1 walk around the outside of my house to get fitting. The power supply unit fits perfect. but the CPU water cooling radiator need some very slight case modification to fit.

I could not fit the whole unit inside the case so i had to externally mount one of the fans. Unfortunatly Cooler Master decided to taper the rear fan vent outwards, so i had to cut the center section of the vent out and hammer and dolly the surrounding steel flat so the fan would sit flush. Lucky im experienced in working with steel otherwise i would have been scratching my head and probably throwing things around the room.

In the end, everything fitted perfect and tidily. Epic win. Here are some photos of the rest of the process..

Bee Kay

On Saturday while filming at a motorsport event a friend of mine was involved in an accident. A car came off the track and hit the barrier right where he was filming. The rear wing came off the car and took out his head at roughly 150km/h.

Hes now in hospital suffering from 2 skull fractures and a smashed/fractured eye socket, not to mention the huge gash in the back of his head and other decent cuts that have been stitched up.

I dont know him anywhere near as well as most of the other crew but what i do know about him is he one tough bastard. Hes the type of guy to rip the fingers at death and then brown eye him. Theres a reason why everyone loves BK, hes friendly and passionate, and my thoughts have been going to him everyday. Take it easy in hospital bro and EVERYONE is thinking of you.

PS: he got the shot… in 240fps.

Ozdravi brzo brat!

Virginia S13

This S13 is Badass. It makes me want to get another one. Dont see many, if any Silvia’s like this in NZ with straight panels, perfect gaps and perfect swages. Its just unfortunate about the KA24, but whats a homie gunna do in the US of A where SR20s are $$$ and hard to come by.

Rugby World Cup 2011

So last night was the opening of the 2011 Rugby World Cup held in my home city of Auckland, New Zealand.

We went to my friends place in town for some drinks and shit talking, then went for a walk into Wynyard Quarter, which was pretty packed. After that my 3 hours vistor park was up and we headed to another friends place in Ponsonby where we had dinner, watched the opening ceremony on the TV and then headed to the roof of his apartment block to watch the fireworks, which were great! Then headed back down and watched the first game of the tournament; New Zealand vs Tonga.
